Do I even have a chance?

I’m 29-years-old with a GED. After dropping out of high school with a GPA of less than one, I started on an associate’s degree in network administration at a tech school. I dropped out of that a year and a half in and spent three years at a community college before dropping out six years ago with a 2.4-ish GPA. On the plus side, I got a 32 on the ACT ten years ago without any sort of studying.

I worked as a mechanical designer (self-taught) for almost eight years before losing my job in December due to a debilitating bout of depression and have been unemployed ever since. I’d like to go back to school to study physics, particularly computational physics, but worry that my poor academic history will preclude that. Is there any hope for me?

I am certain that there are colleges in the US will admit you. It’s going to take research on your part to find them, though.

Good luck.

I would contact the CC you attended and see what they can help you plan.
