I am applying ED to Lawrence University. They normally accept 55%, but their ed acceptance is closer to 80%… I realize it may be a reach, but do I have a shot? I’m really stressing out over this. Thanks!

additonal info:
in top 35% in class of 550.
Have taken most honors classes and a total of 4 AP Classes.

Please… anyone? Im desperate, thank you!

anyone, please? I really wanna know if I’m wasting my $40, time, and pride :/

I don’t know anything about Lawrence University, but from the looks of your stats (and their acceptance rate), I’d say you have reasonable chance (at least 25%).

But again, I really don’t know anything about that school.

Thanks, I guess 25% is better than 0% :/

Anyone else, please? I’m really stressed out about this…

sorry man. i think your chances are low. but i would still apply. your ACT is in the lower 25% range for them and only 4% of the kids accepted have a GPA of 2.5-2.99. but 1st generation college bound will help a lot. i would say 25%-35% chance. chance me in return? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/588260-i-will-chance-you-return.html

My son is at LU. Chances are not a good thing to do really. If you think that LU is where you really want to be next year, then let them know. Tell them why. They want students who will be involved in their programs and succeed. They are a school that changes lives and they do. You will have to work hard and it will be worth it all. Apply ED but make sure your application really shows who you are and why you want to be in Appleton next year. All my best.

Thanks, overseas. I’m visiting (again) next month, so I think I may schedule an admissions interview? I think that may really help. I would expect to come under fire for my lower than average gpa, though, so I would have to prepare for that!

Yes, I would schedule an interview. Just know why you want to be there next year. Read up on what is going on there and what you can bring next year to the mix. It is small and everyone can impact the place. Again, my best!

I agree on the interview, If you have a great interview then it should increase your chances. 25% is probably accurate right now.

Fyi, I did do visit and interview (and it could not have gone any better). I iniated the conversation about my less than stellar grades myself, and took all responsibilty for them. I also let them know that Lawrence University was the place I wanted to call home for the next 4 years, and mentioned ways I would get involved.

I then applied ED, and a few days ago got my acceptance :)
