Would like to major in Business

I know my chances aren’t good, but i was wondering what you guys think. And do you think I could get into any other UC’s beside UCSB.

Unfortunatly, I think your GPA is really going to hurt you. UCSB typically about 10% of people in 3.0-3.3 range, so it’s going to be tough. Do as well as you can on the SATs, and write a great essay. I got into UCSB in FAll 2003 with a 3.2, so never say never :)

UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside, and the new UC Merced would be more realistic possibilities, and if you meet the mininimum requirements for UCs, you should be able to get into at least one of them.

Also, I’m not sure if UC Merced has a business major, and I think Santa Cruz has only Business Management Economics. UCR has Business Administration and Business Economics, so keep that in mind too.

If you’re ranked top 20 in the nation in riflery, for sure write about it in your personal statement. It will totally help you, maybe even enough to compensate for you GPA. You’re totally unique compared to the hundreds of kids with boring ECs and 4.0.s
