Do I even stand a chance?

I’m africa(the really poor part) my dream is to go to stanford.Took SAT 1 got MATH 700 writing 650 critical reading 600

we’re gonna need way more than SAT scores for that. Since you’re international, you will need really impressive stats to be noticed by Stanford. First of all, what country are you from? “The really poor part” doesn’t tell us anything. I don’t think your SAT scores are up to par though. Maybe if you had some really interesting essays that focuses about life in Africa and your passion to change things(or something along those lines).
But even with that, it’s hard to say. Since applying to international universities is extremely hard. I think around 200 or so international get accepted each year. That’s out of a pool of the brightest kids from many countries. I think the better way for international students is to apply to an easier to get in college and then transfer to the school they want to go.

I too have a poor SAT…
I m passionate about Stanford and I have passion, creativity, innate abilities and desire to change this world…
my class rank is top 10%
GPA is 3.6
but SAT I r horrible
Cr-510
m-680
w-600
I have decent Ecs.

Will I be thrown out from the 1st round??I can assure you that my essays will be impressive…

Should I retake the SAT??
Will Stanford accept Jan scores??

Stanford can take your SAT score from december, see if you can still take that. I’m pretty sure that January is too late. Your current SATs are too low for you to be considered academically qualified. With your scores, you will need more than decent EC, meaning that you either won some national award, published a research paper, or won at some major sports competition, to have a chance. Essays are usually what effects the final decision of an applicant, but only if you are academically qualified. So, my advice is go buy a SAT prep book and take practice tests. There are also a couple tests on sparknotes.com. If you really devote yourself and take like 5-6 sets of test, I think you will definitely be able to land a good score.

I plan to retake te sat1 in dec(hope my scores go up) and I think my eassy is impressive(it has the part of i’m going to change the world)

thanks but i really want to go stanford, coz i do want to change the world

thanx 4 the link

I hope your desire to change the world is extremely interesting. Since there are many others who also want to change the world. Good luck!
