I will be in the 12 grade next year and i just wanted to know if i still had a chance at any college wit these type of grades or should i just give up now :(.
My GPA is about 1.5 and I will be taking summer school for Algebra 2 and i plan on taking the SAT’s next fall but CC i just wanted to know what ya’ll thought. Any advice, criticism,or thoughts are welcome.

~Happy Fathers Day CC

A chance where? There are tons of colleges you can get into, you just have to specify which ones you want to go to so people can chance you.

Dude, you know you’re getting into HYPS. Why post?

Well, those grades are sure going to bring you down
but…
if your ECs, SAT/ACT, essays (with convincing excuse), and reccomendations are BEYOND STELLAR…there is a chance at a competitive college…
though…it looks for the most part as if you blew off school and didn’t take your education seriously…so probably not… Yet, I still think you’ll be accepted to some college out there…

Also, what do you want to major in? That could affect it…

chance me?

Your school has E’s. so lucky.

*** does an E mean? A nice way of saying F?

I had the E, G, S, L, U system in 1-5…I miss E+s…they’re so…unconventional. Though I wonder what exactly they represent if they’re supposed to be an A…but you have the other system…

i think that if you really have an insane essay and work on your ec’s get some tutoring you have a good chance at state schools.

Sidra : I really don’t have a college in mind. Anything near MD I guess. i just dont know.

FredFredBurger : What is HYPS ? and why am i getting into it ?

Ceeli: What are EC’s and what essay (Mexicans ?) ? and yea i pretty much blew off school having to much fun but i really wanna change and get into a 4 year college and make something of myself cuz i seriously don’t be the one kid in ma class ('08) that going to go to the local CC. and btw i dont know what i want to major i but i am currently taking the CCNA program in HS ad i am doing very well in it. I am already A+ Certified and have completed the HP Computer repair course

EC = extra ciricular activity. Volunteering, working at a job, internship, being active in a school club, are all examples of that. Basically anything you do that’s non academic. Sports, bla, bla bla…

You need to write several essays when you apply to colleges, based on their prompts. They’re usually 500 words per essay in length requirement, though that varies.

HYP are the top 3 prestigious Colleges in the nation (Harvard, Yale, Princeton) ignore that poster hahah. Most of the people on this forum are super geeky smart. Just ignore :P

All the best wishes, and there are plenty of schools that will take you. Cal States, Virginia Tech, Florida State schools, and some other places. The best bet is, to go to the alphebetical list of colleges

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=90

and search for the colleges that no one posts on, hahaha. Those are probably non competitive. Also, check

www.collegeboard.com

and run a “search” at schools with your GPA range. Hey, if you do something amazing or have done somthign amazing then you can get in. I know someone with a 2.7GPA and got into NYU.

Best of wishes my friend, and I truly hope you find a college!
