Do I have a chance at American University?

Hello,

I’m a student at Montgomery College and really have my heart set on AU for the fall 2016. As far as my credentials go, I’m probably on the lower end.

I’ll most likely be graduating in the spring with an associates and I’m guessing around ~3.3 cumulative GPA at MC (not factoring in my previous college.)

Pros:
I have quite a few extra-curriculars such as volunteering and music.
Good letters of recommendation.
I can write a good essay explaining why I did so poorly.
Have a good upward trend, doing better every semester up to transfer where I’m getting 3.3+ semester GPA consistently.
I am very fortunate in that I would not require financial aid.

Cons:
I attended a different Community College a few years ago where my grades were absolutely abysmal. I failed out the last semester I attended and left with something like a 1.7GPA (this was in 2013)
I’ve slipped up in the 2 years I’ve been at MC and failed a few classes, but I’ve retaken them and gotten much better grades.

AU says on their website that the minimum GPA for transfer students are 2.5, so I feel like if I’m getting well above that I should be alright? Honestly I can’t find much information other than that. Lay it on me honestly. I feel like I’ve got an OK chance but I might be lying to myself…
