do i have a chance at any good schools?

I would like to go to Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Boston University, etc.

GPA- 5.5 Weighted, 4.7 Unweighted (My school is kinda funky with that, I think it equals around a 3.7 unweighted, 4.5 weighted)
Rank - 25/510 (Top 5%) at a blue ribbon school.

ECs- i did xc fresh and soph, swimming junior and senior year, and did water polo soph thru senior year on varsity senior year. Spanish national honor society junior, senior year i was the president senior year, i also was on chess team and eco club.

ACT - taken it once will probably take again, i got a 31.

Do i have a chance at any of these schools?

Boston University is attainable, but Vanderbilt and Northwestern are definitely reaches.

It all depends on how high you can get your test scores, how good your essays are, and all sorts of things that we as observers can’t judge. But definitely try and apply to all three, because you never know what could happen!

I agree with the above.

You’ll need to really play up your ECs, too. As you wrote them here, they’re pretty bland, but if you bring them to life in an essay that’ll really help you out.

Getting your ACT up by one or two points will help out a bit too.

From a GPA perspective, you’re in pretty good shape, as you’re in the top 5%. However, if there’s other people ranked higher than you from your school applying, that could make it more difficult for you to get in.

Bottom line: Play up your ECs on your applications, try to get your ACT up even just one point, and definitely give all of these a try.

Good luck!
