Yes you have a chance...
but NYU is notoriously bad at giving financial aid. Just a heads up.

I'm sure you will get into NYU

You may have a chance at NYU....but with a family income of $50k, you better change your top choice school.

NYU is quite outspoken that it cannot meet need (NYU states this on their Financial Aid page). You won't get the financial aid to attend. Even being Hispanic won't help since many kids from the NY area are Hispanic.

So...what good would it do to get accepted, but not be able to afford to go there?

Where else do you want to go to school. Since your parents can't afford to contribute much, you need to target schools that guarantee to meet need with little or no loans.

Also...are you a citizen or green card resident?

Thank you all! =)
I'm a permanent resident in the process of becoming a citizen.
I have looked into NYU's cost, and realized I cannot afford it =/

Can anyone recommend a school in NYC that is private, has strong academics, a strong reputation, and is very artsy?

Thanks!

Columbia is the only college in NYC that I believe will meet your financial needs(Its a reach but your race will help you i think). Otherwise, try for Cornell in Ithaca. It can probably meet your financial need as well.
