Do I have a chance at Wesleyan ED?

Hey guys, IM A JAPANESE AMERICAN and let me give you guys a quick stat of mine

GPA UW: 3.58 or 3.6 I’m not so sure (i am not sure about rank probably top 20or30%)
Workload: FULL IB DIPLOMA (most rigorous)

SAT 2230 CR 700 MATH 770 WRITING 760

SAT 2 Japanese 800 Math 800

Main EC:
Speech&Debate 4 years captain (a lot of regional awards, nothing national)
Newspaper 2 years Editors in Chief
Lacrosse 3 years (1 year JV 2 year Varsity)
Kyoto University Research Intern
Chess Team 4 years captain
Japanese U-18 Chess Champion (i had a chance to represent team japan at the world youth championship, but couldnt go cuz of the SAT)
Drama production 2 years (just for fun, nothing really serious)

I’m not so sure whether I should apply ED1 or ED2. I know that Wesleyan is my top choice and want to apply ED1, but my gpa is pretty bad and maybe my high senior grade might help during ED2.

One more question, do a lot of people get deferred during Wesleyan ED1? If that is the case, maybe I can submit my senior grade after I got deferred from Wesleyan ED1.

Thanks guys!

Obviously your GPA is a reach for the school, but given your high test scores and your strong curriculum, if you apply ED and have strong recomendations, it may be ok. I doubt anyone else here will be able to tell you anything else more definite. You will only know by applying. Talk to your counselor, but the general wisdom we were told was that to the extent that you are hoping that ED will improve your odds, your best shot is ED 1; if they think your are borderline but want to see another semester, they will defer you to ED2. If they decide you are less than borderline and reject you outright in ED1, it seems very unlikely that ED2 would have helped anyway…

Best of luck to you.
