Do I have a chance? Not the typical applicant...

I am a homeschooled student from Texas with a 3.5 gpa (unweighted), 1800 SAT score, 4 on both U.S and World History but a 2 on English Language and Composition. I am very active in my community and specify my activities in the additional comments. I am very confident in my essays and had both essay reviewed and revised by my teacher and tutor.com countless times. I wrote about never meeting my father and having a mother in prison and how that has affected me. I know UC universities are accepting more students from out of state from what I read on the UCLA news site.

GPA and test scores are below average. Likely reject.

You can look at their school profile and see that you are about the 30% that get those scores so don’t worry. Your essays sound amazing, I say- likely accept!

Hard to say. Calculate your UC GPA to see how it compares. Yes, UCLA is looking to admit more OOS, but they’re still looking for the same standards as in-staters.

Good luck!

Thanks for the responses! I finally submitted my application.

good luck  don’t let the scores get you down and just try!
