I have a 31 on my ACT(Writing 34 Math 34 Reading 26 Science 30 Writing 8), 800, 790 and 780 on my Math Level 2, Physics and Chemistry SAT subject tests respectively, a 4.0 GPA throughout my 9th, 10th and 11th grade ,and I plan to give my TOEFL next month.
I have performed 300+ hours of community service which includes
- Teaching English , Mathematics and Science to 8th, 9th and 10th Graders in a shelter home (Dr. T.S Wilkinson Memorial School).
- Working in a youth organization which holds various programs that benefits the society.
I have been an active sportsperson at the high school level and have represented my high schools in Basketball for the past 4 years . Along with Basketball, I have also represented my high school in Cricket and Soccer for some years.
I also held the post of “Prefect Sports” in my High school for a single academic year.
Depends what major you’re applying for, but you have a decently good chance of getting in for L&S. Try retaking the ACT (ideally aim for 34+); I’m sure you can do better on reading and science with some more studying.
But other than that, you should definitely apply to UCLA
@OutOfBoundsError I want to pursue Mechanical engineering at the undergrad level… and what chances do I have to get into Umich or UCB?
mechanical engineering is pretty difficult to get into at all of these colleges…
you’d have a low chance at UCB, a slightly better chance at UCLA, and your best chance would be at UMich (I don’t really know much about UMich admissions since it wasn’t a school that me or any of my friends applied to, but I can speak pretty confidently about UCB and UCLA MechE)
Mechanical Engineering at UCLA had an 11.1% acceptance rate for the 2014-2015 school academic year, making it the third hardest major to get into for UCLA engineering (the two most difficult are CS and undeclared). While I don’t remember the exact statistics anymore, during engineering open house they told us that the average SAT score for students admitted for engineering was somewhere close to 2200, and the average unweighted GPA was around a 4.0 (it might have been a 3.98 or something, I forget). Since you’re an international student from India (I was actually born in the city you live in haha) , you’re probably going to need to have stats that are above the averages to get admitted. With that being said, you should certainly aim to get a 35 or 36 on the ACT and have unique admission essays

Make sure you have the funding to pay full fees at all of these schools.
