I’m a 20er to start my application season soon, an international student from China.
My dream school is Northwestern University, want to ED it, but not sure by my current profile it’s possible or not, due to not very high standardized scores.
Here is my profile:
TOEFL 107 （R 27 / L 26 / S 27 / W 27）, tested on Dec.2014.
SAT 1: 2110 on Jan.2015 (cr690/ math800/ wr620), 2100 on Jun.2015 (cr700/ math790/ wr610), not sure if I can get a higher score on coming Oct.2015.
SAT 2: Math2 800, Physics 790, Chemistry 780
AP: Calculus BC 5 in 2014; In 2015 waiting score for AP Chemistry/ Psychology/ Statistics/ Microeconomics
ACT 31: (E 25/ M36/ R 30/ S33), writing is waiting for the score, and prepared to take the 2nd ACT in coming Sept., hope to reach around 33.
GPA 3.96 till now, including Honor and AP.
EC:
Chinese zither level 10 (highest level on non-professional);
Different kind of volunteers;
Joined a mini-MBA program at USA organized by ASDAN, and got level 3 Certificate of Personal Effectiveness Accreditation;
Translator for a Chinese website mainly concerns on Michael Jackson, one participated book will be published;
Activities related to take care of disabled children and Psychiatry, charity performance, and running a public platform on WeChat (Chinese app similar as facebook) to introduce knowledge on Psychiatry. Main essay will focus on this part.
Honor/Awards:
International waterloo chemistry competition, CHEM13 global top 200 (top 9%);
Olympic astronomy competition, province level, second level prize;
FC: will not apply for FA.
Currently not sure the future major, so will apply psychology or biomedicine which match the essay topics.
If I ED Northwestern, is there a chance for me? Or Northwestern really demands a higher score on SAT or ACT, so actually no any chance even to be reviewed?
If Northwestern is not reachable, do you have any good suggestions? I want to stay in a big city or its suburb area for convenient life and more opportunities for internships. Normally LAC is not my choice.
