Do I have a chance??

I am international student,my parents are gonna pay for my education i didn’t apply for scholarship or any financial assistance. i’ve got sat 1420 good high school record , great recommendations, great essay
i applyed
baylor university
wofford college
furman university
american university
southern methodist university
hanover college
elon university

besides furman and american i haven’t heard of any of those colleges. with a 1420 score, aren’t you going to aim a bit higher?

i tought 1420 is not that high??

1420 Math and Verbal or 1420 counting writing?

You should probably get into most, if not all of those colleges if your grades are consistent with your test scores. As long as you have no C’s on your transcript and write a presentable essay, you should be fine.

I think you need some “reach” schools. All of those look like safety schools to me. I’d say apply to an Ivy or two, (I don’t know what the rest of your academic profile is like) and then some schools that are a little less selective, but more so than the ones you listed.

Looks like you’re interested in attending school in the southeast. Check out Davidson, Wake Forest, Duke, and UNC Chapel Hill. They’re all more selective than the ones you listed, and have great reputations academically. Davidson is a really great school.

One question though. Why do you want to go to school in the South? I don’t know how much you know about the region, but a lot of the schools down there are very homogenous- and typically anyone different at all, (in your case, international) may find social life in a more diverse part of the country, and at a more diverse school.

Places like the West Coast and the Midwest, along with certain places in the northeast might be better for you. I am by no means telling you that you won’t enjoy it there or be able to fit in – I don’t know you, but I think you should broaden your horizons a little bit and reach a little higher.

just math and verbal

then that list is WAY too safe for you. Apply to some reach schools. What was your writing score? What is your GPA? Break down the SAT…

verbal 750 math 670 writing 700
and my parents are gonna pay for my education i didn’t apply for scholarship or any financial assistance, does this help me

my friend also applyed to these colleges but she had sat just 930 and she didn’t apply for scholarship or financial assistance her parents are also gonna finance her . i tought that we both may attend the same college does she have chance??
