Was all set to apply to Wash U. ED in the fall - but then I visited Yale and would really love to go there. Wash U. is now my second choice. I am ranked 1 out of 440 with a 4.65 weighted GPA. All courses were the most challenging and will have a total of 11 AP classes when I graduate.

My SATs were dissapointing - 650 W (don’t know what happened there - I had an 80 on the PSATs), 670 M, and 720 CR.
SAT IIs not great 740 Lit, 730 Math II, and 670 US Hist.

However, I did well on my ACTs. Composite 33 - Eng 35, Math 31, Reading 34, Sci 33, and writing 32 with a 9 on essay.

My ECs are pretty good, but not outstanding, recommendations should be excellent and my essay should be very good. I think I should just submit my ACTs with writing and forget about taking the SATs again. (I might retake the ACTs - it couldn’t hurt).

I think I have a chance of being admitted, although not a very good chance. I am a white female - does it help that I’m from Alabama?

I’m tempted to just give it a shot, and try for Yale, my first choice, although I’m not expecting to be admitted. I’m concerned about giving up the ED option to Wash U. I think I should be admitted to Wash U. RD, but I would be more comfortable applying ED. Will EA to Yale increase my chances even though it’s not binding? Do you think I should try for Yale or stick with ED Wash U?
Appreciate any help!
