Do I have a chance?

Heyy

ed to lafayette

white female
biology major
act composite 30
tough private school w/ 3.4 ish gpa - unweighted
2 aps and 1 honors
activities and stuff are average

what do you think?

Ferrs,

Your ACT score and GPA are both acceptable. How “average” do you consider yourself? Applying ED will definitely give you a boost, but not enough to overcome sheer “averageness”.

Please elaborate!

well i do volunteer work at an art center over the summer and a coat drive at school(i was the head of it this year) and ive been horseback riding for nine years and i recently started yoga.

Ferrs,

You’re not giving me much to go on, but here goes!

Like I said before, your ACT score and GPA are acceptable. Since you are applying for a more popular program, you will be in direct competition with many qualified applicants. I can guarantee many “competing applicants” will have submitted SAT II scores and taken a decent number of APs as well.

I hope you took the time to describe your involvement in those activities you list. You should definitely have emphasized your interest in horseback riding whenever possible (essays, interview), because it’s a potential “hook” if marketed correctly. Might you consider joining the Equestrian Team (website: http://ww2.lafayette.edu/~equine/</a>) if admitted? If admissions officers knew you were thinking of joining, they’d be more likely to give your application some serious consideration.

Have you visited the campus for a tour, info session, or interview? Lafayette measures applicant interest by the number of contacts you’ve made with the College.
