Do I have a fighting chance of getting into UCLA?

I am in my second year of community college, I did my first year at Palomar College where I took 33 units and finished with a GPA of 3.91. I am a Political Science major and I transferred to Grossmont College in order to take the major prerequisites that are “recommended” on assist.com. I am really worried about my chances of getting into UCLA because I have to work full time in order to pay for school. I have a few extra curriculars for example church volunteering, tutoring, assistant coaching at high school, and I interned at a law firm this summer and will continue to do so for the rest of the year. I am not worried about my grades and should not have an issue holding a 4.0 these next two semesters, but will my lack of involvement in extra curricular at Grossmont hurt my chances of getting in?

I would appreciate responses from either people who have worked in admissions or have transferred from a community college to UCLA.

Here you can see last year’s stats for yourself: https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof14_mjr.htm#PW

PoliSci had an avg admit of 3.75, so with a 3.91 you surpass that hurdle. Re: ECs, the UCs do consider employment, so make sure you put that on your app. I don’t really see anything lacking in your current ECs.

Yes. No one here has worked in admissions to my knowledge, but you definitely have a strong chance at getting into UCLA.

My friend got into UCB PolySci with a 3.5 and minimal ECs. My coworker’s boyfriend got into UCB PolySci with a 3.76? You’re interning at a law firm while maintaining a very high GPA. You will be fine. Just be absolutely sure to complete all requirements properly.

You look fine. I wouldn’t worry about the ECs. UCLA, even though more holistic, is still majorly GPA-oriented.

I think you’re good to go.
