Do I have a hook?

I’m applying to: UPenn, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, MIT, Brown, NYU, and one safety.
I think I have either a Law or Math/Science hook but I’m not sure, would my stats create a hook at any of the schools that I’m applying to??

great rec from a physics teacher and my Yale prof

I’d say the law hook is definitely there, but the math/science hook, while present, is relatively minimal.

Definitely I would agree. The law hook is the one you should pursue, because it distinguishes you from the rest of the applicants.

Thanks, I thought I had a law hook but I wasn’t sure because of how qualified most of the applicants are.

Law is a hook if you play it up i.e. in your interview and essay show you love it and are passionate about it. This applies though only if you actually want to be a lawyer which i assume you do. If you don’t then it’s worthless.

What is a good major if you are planning on going to law school. I’m thinking about majoring in economics with a minor in either math or political science.

Well, you can’t actually minor in anything if you end up at Harvard. Just double concentrate. I would think concentrating in Government would lend itself to law school, and I’ve also heard about concentrating in Philosophy or Classics (because of the thinking skills or something), but you can get into law school having concentrated in anything, from Biology to Folklore and Mythology. Don’t worry too much about pre-professional studying in college, just learn what you love and then get your law education in law school. :)

I’m not sure exactly what a hook is, is it something that makes you stand out from the rest of the appliccants, is it something that ususally causes admission, is it considered a mininmal thing, or is just considered the same as anything else??
If you have a hook do you have a good chance of admission???
