<p>I am applying to Viterbi for Chemical Engineering (Environmental emphasis). I am also applying by Dec. 1 for the scholarship deadline. Would I have a shot at any of the scholarships? My GPA and class rank seem to be the deal breakersā¦thanks!</p>
<p>If you can get your SAT score up to 2200+, youāll be a much stronger applicant. Also, make sure you write compelling, gripping essays and I think you will have a good shot at getting in.</p>
<p>Scholarships, Iām not so sure about, but once again, make your application more appealing to overcome your GPA and I think you stand a chance.</p>
<p>donāt worry about the class rank so much, iām originally from WA too and iām sure USC is aware that we donāt have unweighted GPAs. you have a decent shot at getting into the university, but my guess would be no scholarships.</p>

<p>Also, for scholarships would a new SAT score of over 2200 allow me to get any of the scholarships? I know as of right now my SAT is WAY too low for any merit aid but would the 2200+ SAT score help? Or are my class rank & GPA truly my downfall?</p>
<p>I think for USC, a SAT of 2250+ should help you tremendously. That would put you into the top 25% of enrolled freshmen, and roughly 22% of all freshmen got merit based scholarships. Thereās more they look at than just the SAT scores, but it should go a long way to offset your GPA.</p>
<p>If you could fit it in try the ACT. Some students do far better on that test. Not every student improves on the SAT. If you do, it will help. Right now I would guess SC is a reach in your case.</p>
<p>Do you have any talents or unique experiences that would make you stand out from other applicants?</p>
<p>I would say that my sonochemistry research (relates directly to my prospoective major, which I explain in the application), Key Club involvement (I am higher in terms of leadership than a President at a high school club (I also was founder and President of a successful club)), and campaign internship (30 hr/wk for 7 weeks) make me stand out. I donāt think many other applicants can boast those credentialsā¦</p>
<p>I am definitely going to get over 2200 in December (I am studying my a** off!!!) so that will probably help as well.</p>
<p>As long as your SATās are up Iād say match, maybe low match, and maybe for scholarships as they seem to care a lot for ECās and youāre doing well in those</p>
