Do I have a shot at Johns Hopkins?

Hello!

Hopkins is my absolute dream school and I would love to know your opinions on admissions chances if I apply ED.
(I am a female caucasian-american but attend a rigorous international school in Asia)

I am double legacy at JHU (my parents are involved alums and donate to the school)

GPA: 4.2
SAT: 2120 (My test scores arent the best)

Relevent classes:
AP Biology
AP Macro
AP Micro
AP US History
AP Computer science
AP English Language
AP Calculus AB
AP Physics 1
AP Literature
Advanced Chinese
Honors Bio
Honors Chem

Activities:
Started my own active service club for a childrens shelter in cambodia with great success and achievements
President of the largest student run organization at my school
Attended very selective science-oriented summer programs in IVY league schools
In 5 honor societies
Robotics club and international competitions
On the TEDx executive team at my school
In the forensics society and compete in Asia-wide tournaments for two oratory events
I do extensive scientific research in third-world countries under the mentorship of university professors

I have a good “story” about how all my interests come together (mainly science and service) and a great application showing lots of passion, evolvement, leadership etc.

Thanks so much for your help!! I appreciate all thoughts and feedback!

Yes, you have a good shot at Johns Hopkins. Although your SAT score isn’t the best, it’s still competitive. Your ECs and numerous APs are certainly great, and the fact that your parents are donating alums is a HUGE HUGE plus. If your essays help show your passions and interests while telling a story that stands out and is uniquely you, your chances at the school are pretty high. Good luck!

You have high chances. Your ECs are strong, the amount of APS is impressive, and your GPA is a fit for Hopkins. Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1854705-chance-me-for-nyu-tisch-usc-ill-chance-back.html#latest

You have a really good chance. Do you have time to improve your SAT score? That would almost confirm your chances.

Yes, you have a good chance.

Your parent donate to school = YOUR IN

Right now, you have a good hook going for you, but there are still some things that can be improved on. I would retake the SAT and try to improve it (if you can get a 1500 on the new SAT, I’d feel really good about your chances). You’re a junior I presume, so you still have plenty of time.

@1zogden1 (and OP)

is NOT true. It could be a tipping factor. It IS likely to get the application read a little more carefully.

But: if the OP wasn’t a credible candidate for JHU it would NOT get her in- even if the donation were mega-donations.

Everything looks good Id say its pretty likely you get in. Best of luck!
