Do I Have a Shot at Yale?

----------I’m a Korean Male and I go to a high school ranked in the top 100 in the nation. I’m very active in my group as a trio and quartet, and we plan to play at many events throughout the year to raise enough money to donate to a specific charity. I plan to write an essay based on my musical experience and how I enjoyed expressing myself through music, and how great if felt to play for others, and help others.
----------I’ve received great recommendation letters from my boss at the tennis camp and at the hospital. I also received a great recommendation from my Earth Science teacher, and I plan to receive more from a research mentor that I will have when I conduct research next summer, from my chemistry teacher this year, and I plan to receive a good one from my guidance counselor by becoming really familiar with him.
----------I HAVENT TAKEN THE SAT YET SO CAN ANYONE GIVE ME AN IDEA OF WHAT A GOOD SCORE WOULD BE? I EXPECT AROUND 2150 TO 2200. I ALSO TAKE AP EURO THIS YEAR AND IM GOING TO TAKE AP US NEXT YEAR, AND PROBABLY 6 MORE APS DURING THE SENIOR YEAR

you. have. posted. so. many. chances. threads.

get

over

it.

^ amen.

off topic a bit, but do you know a m. hoyos by any chance?

PS, someone said this before, and I’ll say it again. your ec’s look embellished.

PSS, Relax. Don’t worry about your chances and all that jazz. Enjoy your junior year. Continue doing what you love and work hard. Save yourself from the stress. :)

for god’s sake, please shorten that list.

No. Don’t I have a shot at Yale? Happy???

that’s rude. I think your freaking out a bit, your are doing great, just focus on the essay and you should be fine. That doesn’t mean you’ll get in, but you have a good chance. keep at it!

Trixee.

o wow lol a supporter at last! lol im guna stop posting such long lists now. i found the common app for Yale and ill post according to that from now on lol. yea ill try hard!

Hey man, do you go to my school?!

Edit: What the hell man?! You’re going to be a junior, why are you worrying about getting in now?

The only thing that’s holding you back is your lack of diversity in ECs, and it’s assumed you want to be a music major, right?

Also, this isn’t meant to be offensive, but being Asian might hold you back, considering they’re pretty well represented in most Ivy League schools.

Rikataka, M. Hoyos goes to my school…she’s in my grade…

Holy crap, I know more people here than I should…

i actually want to major in chemical or biological engineering. the music stuff is to show my passion for a specific EC. i hope to continue playing though if i get into Yale. i hear they have a great orchestra. hmm i thought diversity wasnt the key to admission success. i thought it was passion. so i have passion for music, and i guess helping others out through community service. i posted a new chance post above this one which i tried to make shorter. i dont think it’s that much shorter though. lol but i did it according to the Yale Common App.

Diversity helps. The reason I mention it is that as of late its become difficult for many Asians to get into a lot of the better schools because competition among them has become so fierce. They generally excel in math and music (and many go into engineering and the sciences) to the point where they’re often times considered to be over-represented.

I don’t know to WHAT extent this will influence your chances, but just be wary.
