You know, in all actuality, unless your parents have given obscene amounts of money to the school, you’re never really guaranteed admission if it is of the caliber of UChicago, ivies, etc.

A retired admissions director from one of the ivies said that he could throw all the applications received out the window and pick the first x amount that hit the ground first and he would have just as good a freshman class as if he chose them traditionally.

My point is that there are a LOT of ‘super applicants’ like yourself out there. Being from wyoming will definitely boost your chances, but don’t think you are a shoe-in. But, don’t think that you have no shot, because you do.

I would recommend that, if you do really like UChicago, go and check it out and see what you think. Maybe arrange a meeting with the math department head or something like that.

I wrote the following in my last post, but just in case you didn’t read that one, I’ll post it again. (the odd similarities we share):

Interestingly enough, I am from Wyoming too (Sheridan). And I swim. And, I was the one who won the 2007 AP Calc Contest. Weird, eh? Does that mean that you are from Laramie? Is Tom Hudson your coach? Huh, I wonder . . .

…michael peacock? or something of that sort? HA! dude you own the world. yeah im from laramie, and yeah tom is my coach. lol.
