Based on my resume do i have a legitamite shot of getting in to Indiana?

by the way im out of state as well if that matters…

Re-take the SAT and ACT before you apply. If you increase your score by 100 points on the SAT or 3 points on the ACT, you’ll receive a scholarship for $5000/year instead of the $2000/year scholarship you currently qualify for.

you will get into IU… no doubt… but you wont get into the kelley school of business unless you improve your SAT/ACT scores… at the end of the day you go to IU to either go to the kelley school of business or the music school… anything else your better off going to a community college for 2 years and transfering to a better 4 year school… you safe money… and no i’m not being ignorant

1ee304 - not sure where you are getting your information but there are many other fine programs at IU besides business and music - namely Journalism, languages - particularly French and a host of others not taught elsewhere, Chemistry, Public Affairs (SPEA) and the list goes on… Unfortunately those are not the departments being discussed on this message board as it seems it is focused on Kelley.

I think he is partially correct, it is very smart to go to a community college for two years and transfer into IU, saving yourself tens of thousands of dollars. In fact, this is true for about any school, you can go to a CC for 2 years and transfer to essentially any university. There’s only about 10-15 schools in the country where transfer space is very competitive and if you are offered admission as a freshman you should probably take it. Transferring is a great route to take that most don’t even think about.

IU costs about $34,000/year now, going to a CC for 2 years will save you nearly $70,000. IU even allows 90 transferable credits, you could essentially take 3 years elsewhere and the final year at IU to get a degree, saving essentially $100,000. For every school, there’s going to be a general education core of about 30 credits that can all be taken elsewhere for much cheaper. Most CCs also offer the lower level classes. For example, if you want to go to Kelley you could take all of your pre-requisites outside of a few at a CC and then transfer in.

However, it is just naive to think that Kelley and Jacobs are worth going to IU all 4 years, and no other major is. It’s a bit funny because SPEA is seen as the “backup” major for Kelley rejects, but that school ranks 2nd in the country at what it does, compared to Kelley’s #11 rank. Music is the #1 school in the country. Journalism ranks 8th in the country. Education is 19th in the country. There are tons of majors in the College of Arts and Sciences that rank very high.
