<p>I’m transferring to Emory this fall as a sophomore student. I am currently pre-med and took these classes in my freshman year:</p>

Intro to Philosophy
Spring:

American History</p>
<p>I signed up for these courses for my sophomore year at Emory:
Bio
Bio Lab
Pragmatism Philosophy
Modern History
Physics
Physics Lab ( I am trying to take Orgo with lab, but my credits are still in the process of being transferred)</p>
<p>I’m also looking to volunteer in the Center of Disease control center in Atlanta as an extracurricular, which might possibly offer me opportunities to shadow doctors.</p>
<p>Is my sophomore year course load acceptable for a pre-med student?

<p>It looks fine to me with the exception of Orgo missing. My son had similar classes last year and is also a rising sophomore. Last year he had:</p>

Math Models in Biosciences (Calculus)

Epidemics in Global Perspective (Humanities)</p>

Evolution, Ecology and Behavior (Biology) with lab
Sex, Evolution and Human Nature (Psychology)</p>
<p>He plans to take
Fall
Org Chem with lab
Physics with lab
Spanish
Stats</p>
<p>Spring

Cell Bio</p>
<p>Junior year he plans on Biochemistry and Genetics.</p>

Yeah the missing orgo does ruin my initial intention, but if worse comes to worse, I can take it during next summer and fall classes. My adviser told me that when my credits comes and if there still isn’t any room in orgo, I can negotiate a place with the department.</p>
<p>You might also want to check if the first semester of Orgo is offered in both Fall and Spring. It is at my son’s school. If so, you could possibly take the first semester in Spring and the following semester in Fall of junior year.</p>
<p>From my experience, Emory has very flexible courses. I’m sure I can work something out with the head of the chemistry department. Thanks for the tip.</p>
