<p>I know my SAT Score is low I have only taken it once and I was sick I would hope to get between 1800-1900 after taking a prep class. I am also taking 3 subject tests in subjects I am really strong in.</p>

<p>as of right now you really have absolutely no shot. sorry, a 1000/1550 just is not enough. even if you were sick that score is low. </p>
<p>with an 1800-1900 your chances are still very slim.</p>
<p>dont listen to this guy, hes obviously just wants to hype his school up because its HIS school. one of my best friends was accepted and attends NYU now and had an 1150 out of 1600, and they dont look at the writing section. but nonetheless your sat score should go up! gl</p>

<p>have you ever heard of HEOP and C-STEP. that could be the reason he got in? an 1150 is just way too low… im not saying it couldn’t happen but it really is far below NYU’s 25th %ile.</p>

<p>as of right now, even though you’re applying to Steinhardt, you have little to no chance. you definitely need to raise the SAT and do well on the SAT IIs.</p>

<p>to do poli sci and voice, you would apply to Steinhardt and then declare the double major after you are accepted.</p>

<p>look. everyone’s heard stories about people who get into schools with low GPAs or low standardized test scores, or whatever.</p>
<p>in reality, there may have been something on the application that jumped out to the ad com; maybe an awesome audition or an amazing essay or a reason why the score was so low or some incredible internship experience. that’s between the accepted applicant and the school.</p>
<p>so yes, there may be people with low scores walking around. HOWEVER, this doesn’t happen all that often. an average is an average for a reason. </p>
<p>so @DavidB, your friend may have gotten in with that score, but it is very rare and i don’t want anyone else who reads this thread to get the wrong impression.</p>

<p>The fact that you go to a competitive private school and still have a low SAT score is a really bad combination since colleges look at the HS student body that you’re a part of, and competitive private school kids are usually those who have been heavily prepped and tutored in SATs. </p>
<p>The overall average SAT score for the incoming Class of 2013 was just under 1400 out of 1600.</p>
<p>I think it would be a much better idea for you to concentrate on your 3 Subject Tests, score around 700 for each. Then of course rock your essays and audition.</p>

<p>i only told you to get over yourself because you waltzed into this forum without having any knowledge about NYU admissions except for the fact that your statistically sub-par friend got in. i think i would know more about the admissions statistics for NYU than you would, to be honest.</p>
<p>Actually just because you go to the school doesnt mean you know more about admissions statistics. We can all find the same statistics from different sources, just like you could find the same admissions stats about my school by searching online and know as much about them as me. to be honest.</p>
<p>You should retake the SAT or try the ACT you know?</p>
<p>Otherwise, I think LSP would be a reach.</p>
