In a nutshell, my SAT is 1370, gpa is 3.91, EC’s include 500 hours of volunteering at hospital, 30 of which are in the ER…

Do i have any chance for direct medical admission at

Drexel University
Virginia Commonwealth University
University of Connecticut
University of Cincinatti
Stony Brook University

are there any other schools i should try?

i dont’ know the exact requirements for those specific programs, but you have a chance at them unless there is an exact SAT cutoff that I dont’ know of. raising that SAT score if possible to 1400 is the best thing you can do now aside from applications. my cousin raised hers from 1360 to 1400 and got into VCU and UMKC (or at least interview) even with 2 or 3 C’s in course such as AP chemistry. if not then work hard on those applications, stony brook has very limited seating so that mite be a little tougher. UCONN and Cinncinati might be a little harder as well. You should also consider northeastern ohio, or michigan state university

how does your GPA relate to everyone else in your school?

my school does not rank…but i AM in the top 12%

hey wow ur cousin got into vcu’s ba/md prog with a c in ap chem??? she must have had suuuper ec’s…? or is vcu not so competitive as i thought it was?(no offense to ur cousin…just asking
)

p.s. i mean i do know that they don’t require you to take the mcat or anything (wowza!)

MCAT?
Residency is where?

These things matter quite heavily

papucutta, What shcool is that that doesn’t require one to take the MCAT? Is it the only school? Are there more? Please name as many as you can. Thanks.

i’m sorry i haven’t looked at the posts in this room for a whiillle. yea, what i’m talking about is combined ba-bs/md programs (refer to combined programs room of this pre-med forum). of course, tho, i know ur situation and should tell u that these programs are only for high school seniors applying to college…basically, they all offer conditional acceptance to med school–some with more perks than others. i.e. no mcat requirement for some, low gpa-to-be-maintained requirement, accelerated undergraduate term (if u consider that a plus), etc…
