Do I have any chance at getting into schools I want to go to?

About me: From Suburbia, Pakistani, daughter of immigrants, focused on English and History (Something along the lines of Poli Sci, maybe Psych?) I go to private school on a lot of financial aid.
I have not gotten back my test scores, but I will edit this when I get them.
GPA: 3.6 (includes two trimesters of junior year)
Honors + AP Classes
Honors Geometry- C+ (my worst grade)
AP Euro- A
APUSH- A (still have to finish junior year.)
AP Lit- A (still have to finish junior year.)
Next Year
AP Psych
AP Gov
AP Lang
Latin for three years, dropping it senior year to add another AP I’m more interested in. Thoughts?

(There are major reaches here, but obviously no Ivys)
Schools: Dickinson, Syracuse, Kenyon, UVM, UMD (in-state), Pitzer, Colorado College, Davidson, Connecticut College, University of Pittsburg, Skidmore, Northeastern, Tulane, George Washington University, Occidental, University of San Diego. I really don’t know a lot, I’ve only visited a few but have taken note that a lot of these schools mark demonstrated interest.)

Also any other recommendations for schools I am willing to take them, smaller, slightly well-known schools. Maybe near the beach would be a huge plus but obviously not a deal breaker.

Also important: I got suspended for a day for vaping one day this year. A lot of people have told me that colleges won’t care, but still a factor to take into consideration. I’ve heard a lot of people who got in with month-long suspensions, but just be real if it will severely impede my admissions chances. I won’t be lying on my application, so they will definitely know or would probably find out anyway.

It is really hard to tell without your test scores, did you possibly take the PSAT and know that score? Is your GPA weighted or unweighted? You are good on ECs I would say, I’d say your transcript rigor looks good. I’d have to see your test scores. As of now obviously I recommend keeping your grades up and working on your college essay, make it memorable within the first 2-3 sentences, and get stellar recommendations. As for other colleges, maybe University of Florida, Florida State University, Penn State, Rutgers, UDel, UMass Amherst, URI, or U Conn.

I think you have a shot at a lot of those if your test scores end up decent. Not familiar with all of them, so I’m not sure if there are any safeties (maybe UMD?) Dickinson, UVM, Syracuse are all matches - Conn College a low reach, again depending on those test scores.

Dickinson’s acceptance rate was somewhere south of 20% this year—not a match.

Can you afford to be full pay at the schools that you are applying to? If not, then have you run the NPCs?

What are your safeties?

I would be very surprised if a one day suspension for vaping is going to impact university admissions.

Dickinson’s acceptance rate is 50%

I’m probably applying to Indiana and CU Boulder as safeties

Oh my god, my dumb @$$ was thinking of Davidson. Forget I said anything lol

Does anyone have any small school suggestions?

Wheaton (MA), Allegheny (loved the English department there), Muhlenberg, Susquehanna, St. Lawrence, Juniata, Ursinus are all possibilities

What is Tulane looking like?

UMD in-state requires at least a 3.8/4.2 GPA. although they offer a lot of in-state students spring semester enrollment- which can be a good option if finances are a concern. Don’t worry about the suspension. Discipline in HS is covered under FERPA (like HIPAA). It is private information.

Tulane has about a 14% acceptance rate and unless you are will to go ED1 or ED2 it will be very tough to get into

Read the ‘Tulane class if 2023’ thread to get a good idea of whether you can get in or not - and how others compare
