Do I have any chance at getting into these schools

<p>Hi. I am a senior at one of the top schools in NYC. My college list is almost finalized. I am just thinking of adding one or two “dream schools (top 40 national universities in the northeast)”
I am applying to schools in/near cities in the northeast…. planning to major in political science/ art history.
Average: 89 weighted (3.3/ 3.4 gpa includes AP GOV’T, AP US, AP WORLD, and AP CALC AB)
SAT: 1366/ 2033
Math I: 700 Math II: 650 US History: 750
Extracurricular:
Volunteer at blood drives (10th)
Volunteer at summer camp (10th summer)
One of the 10 members of Student Activities Council (student government) (10th)
Member of NHS and community service honor society (11, 12)
Art Club (10th, 11th, 12th)
Third Place/ major poster contest winner (10th)
Participant of after school/ summer classes at a museum (11th, 12th)
Volunteer (work-study student) at a museum (11th summer)
Intern at the a major museum’s legal office (12th) </p>

<p>I’ll definitely apply to one or two “dream schools.” Which two colleges do I have (I know…VERY SMALL) chances of getting into?

<p>I think all the schools you listed are long-shots, with the possible exception of Brandeis, but that is still a very high match/low reach. Besides your lowish GPA, your ECs are really thin, which will not help your chances at these selective schools. Sorry to give you such negative feedback! I hope you have some more realistic match and safety schools that you are applying to, along with a financial match/safety school. Good luck.</p>

<p>Um, your SAT scores make no sense. You can’t score a 1366 or a 2033 on the SAT.</p>

<p>Those still aren’t possible SAT scores. Your scores have to end in a 0.</p>

<p>If you haven’t started your Brown essays yet, I’d advise you to spend the saved time on applying to a couple of your other dream schools instead. You might also consider adding Boston U, George Washington, and American U to you list instead, if they aren’t on it persently. Please keep in mind that BC does not offer merit aid, except for a couple of handfuls of applicants who receive the Presidential Scholarship each year.</p>

<p>Yup, I have BU, GWU on my list (and northeastern, syracuse, two SUNYs and CUNY) & decided not to apply to American after visiting. I probably won’t receive any merit aid if I get into any of those highly selective schools anyways. I also decided to add Brandeis to the list & will probably apply to one dream school (so I could tell my parents that at least I tried lol) </p>

is Brown,Georgetown, Johns Hopkins> Tufts >Boston College> Brandeis?</p>

JHU- Reach
Tufts- Reach
BC- Low Reach
Brandies- High Match
Consider BU, GWU, UPitt and Amherst. At the above schools you have really no chance, to be honest.</p>

<p>Forgot about Northeastern. That’s a good choice but if you don’t get good merit aid there, and you probably won’t, stay in-state. It’s not worth taking on a lot of debt or paying full-fare, even if your folks can afford it.</p>
