<p>Grr, should have saved this post. I’ll expand if anyone asks.</p>
<p>To summarize, I’m a community college student that really wants to transfer into UT when I’m done with my basics (although if that fall out of favor, I’m willing to listen to alternatives such as Texas A&M (not Texas Tech since they don’t accepts gays like me)). My oldest brother attended and graduated from it, it looks like the best public university experience I have a remote shot at getting, and have a bachelors, masters, and doctorates to two of my dream jobs; medical microbiology and astronomy. Sadly, my math skills is weak (have to do remedial math (pre-Algebra this semester) that won’t count towards my GPA for three semesters, one of which I’ll take during the summer to get out of the way) and it’s because of that I know my chances are slim, but I still want to see if I can stretch it far enough. Get my GPA 3.6 or higher, do as much volunteering services as possible, get letter of recommendations, improve my math skills as much as possible and join clubs related to my dream jobs if possible.</p>
<p>Is it even worth contacting University of Texas in both programs? I want to start as soon as possible if it’s by any means feasible. If not to one or both questions I asked, some alternatives I may enjoy would be really appreciated because the last thing I want to do is to work at a job that I utterly hate (oil field, ugh).</p>
