UCD is my dream college, but I’m concerned I don’t have the scores.

I’m going to be a senior this fall. Average GPA is a 3.875

Female/Asian/California resident

My highest SAT I score is a 1770 550 CR, 600 Math, 620 Writing

I’m taking my ACT in the fall, and I’m studying all summer. I’m aiming for a 29

SAT II: US History (620) and MathII (590) but I’m taking the MathII again in the fall, hoping to bring it above 620

by the end of senior year, I will have taken 4 AP’s and 3 Honors classes

my volunteer/EC’s: Volunteer at Open Heart Kitchen (30+ hours), member of Youth Advisory Committee of my city (50 hours), Red Cross Club (2 years), member of CSF (3 years), recieved Academic Block Award several times, Principles Honor Roll 3 years, Tri-Valley Youth Court Juror (20+ hours), Volunteer at local library, and I had a job at a pizza parlor throughout my entire junior year.

and my class rank is (as of junior year) 23/320

well after reading all these posts i seem to be very lucky for i will be going to UCD in this fall but with only a gpa (weighted) of 3.67 and sat scores of 1630. For me it was all about the community service, my job, and leadership roles which i showed in my essays. Be confident in them and show that you can be a leader and you will have no problem.

Dannyboy, I know how you feel. My sophomore year, first semester I had a GPA of 3.2, second: 2.67. I didn’t bother calculating my UC GPA for that year, but I would guess it would be like a 3.1 haha. Junior year, of course, I got straight A’s while taking 4 AP courses. No extra curriculars, either, SAT superscore of 2000, highest sitting of 1880. Yeah, I was lucky to get into Davis. Then again, even during my sophomore year, I still retained decent grades in my math classes, and since I applied as a math major, that probably helped somewhat.

I think I got extremely lucky as well, my overall high school gpa added up to 3.07 unweighted… rather unbelieveable right? It was 3.25 at the end of junior year, so yeah, I wouldn’t say I did phenomenally well on tests, either, 1950 on SAT and 770 on Math 2C / 720 on Chinese. I guess I was somewhat involved with extracurriculars through marching band and a couple of clubs.

Overall, I think it comes down to 4 things: GPA, Test Scores, Extra-curriculars, and your personal statement. If you do well on I’m guessing like 2 of them and half decent on the others, I’m pretty certain you’ll get in.

Reclamation: thanks for the advice. your SAT scores were really good though! I’m starting to work on my personal statements this summer. I feel like my GPA is fit, it’s just that my SAT score is weak
