Do I have any shot at all? (I am guessing No)

I am a hispanic male from New York, and am looking to go into Computer Science.

GPA: 3.4 unweighted.
-My highschool is one of the most vigorous in the nation, in the top 100 for most prestigious public and private high schools (I go to a public school). So grade inflation is completely non existent. Our valedictorian (out of 1500 students) has a 3.9 My school doesn’t rank students, but I would guess top 25% if I had to.

SAT: 2050 - 650 R - 800 M - 600 W

ACT: 31 Composite

I have taken 4 APs during my high school career:
AP Comp Sci AB
AP European History
AP American History
AP Biology

Extra Curriculars:
-National Hispanic Scholar Award (Honorable Mention)
-Assistant teacher in my school’s intro to computer science class. I am currently the only student in my school (and district) to be doing a teaching role like this.
-Varsity Football
-Various overseas voulenteer works. ~100 hours

I also have very strong recommendations, especially from my computer science teacher. Who recieved two masters from Carnegie Mellon. He basically feels i am one of the most ambitious students he has ever come accross (at least in the field of computer science)

That GPA might be troublesome. Did you take Level 2 Math and another subject test of your choice?

those are all the subject tests I have taken as of now.

^ maybe im missing them too… but I don’t see any SAT SUBJECT TESTS.

You need a MATHII and another one such as Biology, Physics, Literature, History, etc…

Oh sorry lol I am so dumb.

Math2: 720
US History: 770
Biology E: 690

mmmm… you have shot, and especially because you are hispanic
But not a high one to be honest

I’d say go ahead and apply, it couldn’t hurt. You do have a shot. The extracurriculars are interesting.

The thing that will hurt you more than anything is your GPA. I understand you go to a very competitive school, but the admissions people do not know that. You might want to make that clear when you apply. Also, is there a reason you only took 4 APs? It’s okay, I was just wondering if you could have made your schedule more rigorous.

I believe that it’s the 4 that he has FINISHED.
So, finishing 4 AP courses is actually pretty good.
I had 5 but I think that is the max anyone in my class did.

oh and I had to point out
US history, not American history
I don’t know but I find it kinda funny

Those 4 APs were basically all the ones I could have physically taken given my progression of classes, and classes that are required to take. To be honest, I did have five at the start of the year, with AP Psychology, but the load was just too much for me. I had football until about 6:30 - 7 every day, and I was doing terribly in it, so I had to drop it for my own sanity’s sake as well as my GPA.

yeah yeah, its fine. I thought you meant you took 4 all of high school, including senior year. You’re fine.

I think you have a shot, please apply, you sound like you would enjoy HMC.
