Do I have chances at any of these schools?

I’d like to attend Virginia Tech, Rensselaer Polytechnic, or University of Maryland.
As it stands, my SAT 2400 superscore is 2000, 1600 is a 1400.
The big problem here is my GPA. My UW GPA is 3.2, which is terrible. My weighted GPA is 3.8, which is above top 50% of my school, but my high school does not do ranking or placement.
Extracurriculars:
NCO in Civil Air Patrol
Full Court Peace Club
Aera Project (Science/ Engineering club from hometown)

Am I being too ambitious with my choices of school? What can be done in my senior year of high school to help?

What’s in-state for you? Do you live in NoVa?
All three universities will be definite reaches for you, especially if you intend to apply to engineering. You may apply but don’t expect much.

A safety would be UAlabama’s College of Engineering, which will consider your weighted GPA and your CR+M (since you have 1400, you’re guaranteed admission). Apply before December 1st and you’ll qualify for a full-tuition scholarship, honors college, and honors dorm. If you’re dubious about the school’s quality, you can check out the UAlabama-specific forum for the thread “schools my child turned down to attend UAlabama Honors” or seek out Mom2CollegeKids.

What’s your parents’ budget?
Have you run NPCs on all three universities you listed?

You should get into VTech
Maryland is a low match instate and a high match OOS
Dont know much about Rennesselar
