Do i have enough qualifications?

Well its almost time for me to start applying for colleges. I want to know if what ive done in high school is enough to go to a good school. I would like to go to UT Austin and if possible or by sheer luck Georgia Tech. My preferred major is Aerospace engineering but i could also take mechanical. Well here are my clubs/ achievements/ awards.

Finished HAS, a NASA sponsored online course that lasted a few months.

Competed in academic competitions: UIL, math bowl but never won anything beyond third place

Am taking and will take various AP classes

4.0 GPA

Started astronomy club at my school

Worked with NASA on the HUNCH program where my engineering and design class and i help NASA design things they needed.

Not so good SAT score 1200

First one in my family to go to college

Hispanic

30 hours community service

Associated with rocketry, in rocketry clubs, have a level 1 license

I would really appreciate any opinions on what level of college i can get into. I still have time before i graduate so any suggestions are also welcome.

The NASA activities look very interesting, especially for your intended major. In addition your first gen and URM hook will help you.

What will hurt you is your SAT score. The 25-75% for UT Austin 2015 was 1170-1390, and it’s presumably going to increase as UT Austin becomes more selective. Similar stats for GA Tech. Would it be possible for you to retake in order to increase your chances?

I think UT Austin and GA Tech will both be reaches for you, UT Austin specifically bc of their auto-admit for top 7% in Texas.

You have a lot of good stuff. Think about how you contribute to your community and give a lot of thought to your essay.
