Do I have to write the formula in order to receive credit on the AP Physics 2 exam?

Hello,
Recently I took a test in my AP Physics 2 class and lost a lot of points because my teacher said that I had missing work. I was confused because I had written everything that I plugged into my calculator neatly on the test, and so I decided that I needed to talk to him about it. He proceeded to tell me that the issue wan not that I didn’t write the arithmetic down, but that I didn’t write the formulas down and that on the AP scoring rubric it says that they need to see the formula. Is this true?

For example, if the question asks me to find the power of a circuit with a 20 volt battery and a 10 ohm resistor, could I simply write (20^2)/10 = 40 watts or would I first have to write P = (V^2)/R and then show the arithmetic. Thanks for responding!
