Do I have what it takes to get accepted into Cornell, Northwestern,or Berkeley

I am a high school junior starting to narrow down my reach schools for applications next year. I am a Maryland resident.

Teachers will give me excellent recommendations… ( b/c they have written great internship recs)

chance me please

I can only say for Cornell, Looks good to me. It will also depend on your major and college.

I will most probably be majoring in biochemistry…anything biology

Stats, excellent
gpa, excellent
rigor, excellent
APs & scores, excellent
sports, ?
ECs : okay
Leadership: minor (which charity, # of hours?)
Hook, ?

On “paper”, everything (stats & gpa) looks good. But it’s always more than that. A hook would make it a definite. ED anywhere? That helps. FA? makes a difference.

Your ‘medium’ schools should also be considered a reach. UVa, UCLA, Tufts, JHU: all extremely competitive too.

@limabeans- thanks for the feedback! i have a few questions tho.

what does FA stand for?

By hook, do u mean something that should be included in the essay? As for ED, i am not sure yet. Sports- i play tennis outside of school and have recieved a junior sponsarship by Prince ( sounds good on paper, not that great), I will also be doing track next year, not really an athlete though.
I have 250 community service hours.
As for EC’s should i sign up for more clubs?

A “hook” is college admissions jargon for URM status, legacy, etc.

FA stands for financial aid.

You do if you can spell calculus correctly

do you go to wootton or churchill

@feral yes i do, churchill class of '11… did u go there too? and does that help
