Do I need all A's for the Naval Academy?

I’m a Junior in High School right now and I recently visited the Naval Academy. I absolutely love this school and I’m trying to do everything I can to increase my chances of receiving an appointment. I’m involved in community service, varsity sports, student council, and I hold a leadership position in each. My real question is about grades: do you need straight A’s to get an appointment? I know many people say to treat it like an Ivy League School, but does that mean that the academic requirements are just as strict. I remember at the seminar they were saying that they like a well rounded individual so would that mean they leave a little slack for grades. And my grades aren’t even that bad, I’ve gotten all A’s my entire high school career (besides freshman english), but this year I’m taking 3 AP classes and its looking like there might be some possible B’s in AP US History and AP Chemistry. Would the Naval Academy overlook these and any future B’s in very rigorous classes and look at the fact that I’m challenging myself with such classes? Basically, I’m just having trouble getting a feel for how strictly the Naval Academy evaluates your grades when they look at your transcript.

Any additional tips for admission would really be appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Did you look on the Naval Academy’s own web site? I did.

Yupp I’ve scoured their website prior to visting, but thanks anyway. Unfortunately my high school doesn’t do class rank, so I’m not quite sure how they would determine percentile.

The service academies are very competitive: straight A’s helps, but it is not a requirement.

alright thanks guys this really helped me out!

depends on how good an athlete you are – could be recruited with much less than straight As if athletic prowess in a sought after sport
