Do I need to take the math test?

I think my best subject tests would be French and Literature; I just tried a literature practice test and I got an 800, and I stayed with a family in France last summer so I know it quite well. I don’t want to take math because timed math tests freak me out, even though I like and do well in math and physics. I go to a really small school that doesn’t have any AP classes (we just don’t have enough students or money)–in my world history class, we learned more about college hockey teams than Greeks and Romans, and in my biology class we spent a lot of time out in the woods identifying trees, which was fun but it doesn’t help me on questions about sclerenchyma cells and whatnot. So I’d have to study up for a science test, and I’d have to practice a lot for the math one to avoid stupid mistakes. Anyway, my question is, do I have to take the math test? And it probably isn’t good to take only humanities tests (French and Lit), right?

It’s safest to take a math, humanities, and a science Subject Test. If you’re doing well in math and physics, try the SAT Subject Tests for them. Try to aim for Math 2 because they have a generous curve, so you can get maybe 5 wrong and still get an 800.

You do not have to take any test that you do not want to, and if it bothers you that much, it would not be in your best interests to do so.

Unless, of course, you are applying to a technical or engineering school. In which case, you would need a Math exam.
