Do I sound cocky?

For the college I’m applying to, I have to write a short blip about 5 of my top activities and achievements. I chose to write about being a volunteer radio dj.

“You’re listening to K-A-O-S, 89.3fm Olympia. I’m Alex Mitu, time now is four on the dot”. I crossfaded into Clinton Fearon’s Life is a Journey and quickly shut off the microphone. I had said it, though nervously, the magic words that would commence my two hour stint in the studio. After a six week long summer training course, I was now officially a radio DJ. My first step in becoming a broadcast journalist was complete. For now, it was a chance to open the door to listeners of a rarely played genre: reggae. But it was also a chance for me to get my voice heard, to gain practice for later. Practice that I hope to put to good use, bringing about issue awareness to an uninformed public in the future.
