Do I still have a chance? my GPA is under 3.7

Hi all, i’m an asian male from California. I suffered an extended illness last year (junior year) which caused a slip in my grades - i ended first semester with 5 B’s and only 2 A’s. My 9-11 academic GPA is 3.38 UW and 3.64 weighted. I applied ED2 to Vanderbilt but today I found out that my counselor didn’t mention my illness in her rec…despite us having a close relationship and the fact that she really likes me. I’m really starting to worry that i won’t get in now because she forgot to compensate for me…my transcript has a mixture of A’s and B+'s and then a whole bunch of B’s junior year due to my illness. And I got 2 B+'s on my midyear report…

my SATs aren’t that great, (2000 total but a 590 on CR…). I have pretty excellent EC’s, one of which is somewhat unique.

Is there really that much of an advantage being from California? Any help or advice would be great…I still can’t believe my counselor didn’t compensate for me in her rec…she did say she was proud of the rec though and thought it was top notch quality.

Do i have even a slight chance now? or should i give up.

I sent you a message.

Do you mean a PM? cause I didn’t get anything; thanks though, try again?

If you look at the 2012 sub forum someone got accepted ED with a 3.45 unweighted GPA, so Its definitely possible.
