How do you send in your college application essay? Do you type it or write it?
Also, my essay is very short. It’s a few words short of 130. Is that too short?

If you use the common application (or another electronic application), then everything is typed and submitted online. That’s how most people apply to most colleges now.

If you are submitting a paper application, I’d seek out a typewriting and type everything out onto their forms. It’s a pain, but it’s more professional than hand writing it.

130 words is too short for the personal essay part of the common application. They tell you to write 250 words minimum, and I think most people write between 500 and 1000. However, 150 words will be appropriate for some of the supplemental essays. You will need to look at the guidelines for each supplement to be sure.

Got2BeGreen, your essay can actually be submitted as a .pdf file, which means that it can be a scan of a handwritten text. But yeah, I don’t think many people do that.

Cheshire Cat, your essay absolutely cannot be 130 words long! The minimum length is technically 250 words, but generally speaking, anything shorter than 500 words is too short.
