Do international students typically have higher/lower GPAs?

There is no space to write this in the title:
Do students, whose first language is not English, typically have lower/higher than average GPAs at your college?

I have studied English as a foreign language and I make mistakes from time to time. Is this going to have a very negative impact on my grades and GPA?

Some of the Asian internationals in my bio, chem, and physics classes may suck at English, but they do pretty well on the tests. Well in math/science it doesn’t make much difference, it all comes down to if you’re smart and work hard. In Humanities classes they’ll probably have more trouble if they don’t read or write well.

Judging from your post, your English is really good. If you’re a Humanities major, ask yourself if you can handle doing lots of reading and writing in a foreign language.

But a mistake here or there is not going to lower your GPA, I doubt it will have a huge impact on your grades.:)

my intended major is Poli Sci so i’m worried about that too.
of course i’ll do my best but… :(

I don’t know about gpa’s, but my boyfriend has tutored many non-native speakers for basic english courses that would have lowered their gpa’s, because it was hard for them to write adequate papers. But after he tutored them and fixed their papers they usually got A’s. So I would just say that if you have a paper to write in any class either get a tutor or go to a writing help center (my school has a free one) and get your paper checked out. Professors will usually expect basic grammar skills. If you put in some extra work, I don’t see gpa’s being any lower than the average student.
