Do It Anyway!

In 29 days you young folks will begin climbing a very steep road into adulthood. You will be exposed to people and challenges, both good and bad, you never dreamed existed. Be assured that there are and will continue to be a multitude around the country praying for all of you. With that, I will leave you with a saying I’ve tried to live by for many, many years.

DO IT ANYWAY

People are often unreasonable,
illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind,
people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful,
you will win some false friends and true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank,
people may cheat you;
Be honest anyway.

What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis,
it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Mother Teresa

I am so very proud of all of you. You ARE our future.
Be safe, be strong, stay true to yourself and God bless.

My math teacher gave us a very similiar poem the last day of school. Each verse was different, but it has the exact same message.

To my soon-to-be classmates, remember what this poem says, because the attitude it tells you to have is exactly what we need to get through the difficult trials ahead of us. We all know how hard it is going to be, but just remember not to take it personally, keep working hard, stay motivated, and NEVER give up.
