Hi! I was just wondering if Literature and other language tests (say, French, Spanish, Chinese with Listening) count as two separate subject areas (i.e. English and Foreign Languages), or are they all grouped together? The thing is, I’m applying to U of Toronto next year, and they require three SAT II’s, from three different subject areas, and I need to make sure I meet this requirement. Thanks for your time!

Two separate tests.

Alright, thanks. Another quick question – I usually see the advice that it is good to take SAT II’s in a breadth of subject areas, often with the advice of 1 Math subject test, 1 Humanities subject test, and 1 science subject test. However, I’m not all that interested in science, and intend to apply for a humanities major (German, with a secondary field in Political Science). If I didn’t take a science subject test, would this be to my disadvantage in any way? Assuming Literature and foreign language tests count as two subject areas, and I added in Math, I’d still have covered 3 subject areas… I could probably study really hard for a science test, and probably get a decent score, but in all honesty I’d rather not lol.

My daughter took lit, U.S. History and World History. She only applied to one school that required three–Georgetown-- and she was admitted EA before her scores were even in. She applied as a language major.

Wow. Congratulations to her! And thanks for the very helpful responses :)
