<p>Never heard of it for college. I didn’t have it at my colleges and if others have it, nobody ever mentions it.</p>
<p>At UW Madison, they did in fact rank you but those numbers are meaningless since the disparity in grading practices between departments, colleges and individual professors is immense. They only rank you by your GPA as it compares to other people graduating at the same time as you. You are unlikely to ever see this number and if you apply to graduate schools, they will never ask for it.</p>
