Do not let anything discourage you from applying to Stanford!

You flew to Vietnam to take the SAT? Were there no SAT Test centers in Beijing? Also, do you have a second home in Vietnam? Because I thought that on the day of the SAT your bike broke down and there was no one home to take you to the test center?

Yes, my aunt is living in Hochiminh City in Vietnam. I was lucky because I had visited the test center once before the test day and the road was not so difficult to remember.

Oh, I see. Aren’t there SAT centers in Beijing?

You’re story is amazing. I’m very glad Stanford accepted you. Congratulations on the acceptance! Any college should be honored to have you attending their university.

Dear dudemancool123,
Yeah, the SAT is not offered in China.

Ah I see. Sorry if I came off as being offensive. I suppose the fact that I feel the need to question every occurrence that would hint at there being justice in the world says something worrying about my character lol. I really admire your dedication, and I’m sure your character will serve you well not just in Stanford or Wharton, but in whatever you choose to pursue in life. Congrats again dude.

Oh thank you so much, and no, I did not think you were offensive.

I can definitely see how you, pleasewharton, got accepted, even if your application wasn’t very impressive when condensed into a bunch of numbers. From the five or six posts that I have to judge your entire person from, rest assured knowing that you come across as an infinitely likable, hard-working and promising person :)

Thx…u inspired me a lot

I have just been accepted to Harvard & Brown, waitlisted at Penn, and denied at the other schools I had applied to. I have not decided yet but I think I will go to Stanford.

Pleasewharton, you are totally inspiring. Just by reading your posts, I can tell how promising you are as a candidate. You deserve not only Stanford, but all the other schools out there. Whatever obstacle you encounter in life, you will make it through with your attitude. I really hope I get off the waitlist, so I can meet amazing people like you! Again, congratulations pleasewharton! :)
