If we do OA, does that mean we get to move into our rooms before everyone else?

I believe so.

Yes, ma’am
But if you’re in a suite, I don’t think you can claim a room before anyone else. That happens when your RCA/RA comes, I think.

does a quad count as a suite?

I think you get to throw your stuff down in the room, but can’t claim beds, etc, until your roommates and RA show up at orientation.

Yeah, OA’ers get there first, but you must have a suite meeting with your RA / RCA present to determine rooms. It’s not first-come, first-served.

So you won’t actually know which room you’re in until you get back from OA?

You will know what room you’re in when you get a letter from housing – in other words, let’s say they assign you to 2XX Clapp Hall (a quad). You’ll get a letter saying you’re in that room. It will be up to you, your roommates, and your RA, however, to determine the configuration of people living in this room. You will have to figure out which pairs of people are going to live together, etc. This, of course, only applies for suites with multiple bedrooms.
