Do out-of-state applicants have a disadvantage?

I am from Connecticut and I want to attend UC Santa Barbara and I am basically Santa Barbara’s typical, average student but I am from CT. Will it be harder for me to get in? What should I do?

Yes, it will be harder. Your test scores should be around UC SB’s 75th percentile for you to be safe. You should just attempt to do as well as you can. I’m curious, is there a specific reason you want to attend UC SB? There are much better state schools in the Northeast.

I just love it :)

Yes, it will be harder.

love what? University of Casual Sex and Beer?

Go to the UCSB website. Look at the gpa calcuation formula. The UCs calc gpa by a very specific formula. Make sure you take ALL of the required courses including a year of fine arts/theater/visual art…
What do you mean by UCSB’s typical average student? If you mean your gpa and SAT scores fall in the middle of their ranges you probably are looking at a reach to get in.
