Do ppl that listen to hip-hop and R&B get discriminated against?

In either case (typically its cultura, so…the latter), there exist people who do not like a single song of either genre.

Well, you know what they say about stupid questions, right?

there are all kinds of people on college campuses. don’t forget people like yourself are applying to these schools, so i doubt everyone at Brown listens to Daft Punk or Broken Social Scene…so for the most part, you’ll be fine

yo, if you get in, you can chill with me and blast phat beats and c-walk down the halls

thats sounds slamming

if i get into brown, im going to be the first gangster to graduate from here… ill bring my gun and cap some bittches

if people would seriously discriminate against others who listen to hip hop, ugh, thats just laughable, is everyone at brown a pretentious jerk who thinks that the only real music is indie, stuff that isnt “mainstream”?

please, i for one dont care what music someone listens to, as long as they dont criticize others for what they listen to or feel superior because they listen to a band from omaha that no one has heard (bright eyes? the faint? anyone?)

i myself listen to plenty of “indie” “hardcore” “hip hop” and what have you, hip hop is fun to listen to so who the hell cares?

i dont think anyone on here who answered yes actually goes to Brown. As a white Brown student who loves hip hop, I can assure you I am not discriminated against. Do I get the occasional “You know you’re not black, right?” yes, but more often than not people think its just funny.

I go to Brown.

You will definitely not get discriminated against. People of all races here listen to hip-hop, and I’d say it’s the norm or at least considered pretty normal.

I just thought this was kind of funny, and ironic and pun-ish since we’re on the topic of music and hip hop

yeah, that was intentional

that is ridiculous. how could you not know that you are white and not black? you can be any race and still be appreciative of any culture without having to be defined by sterotypical expectations of your race (which is a social construct by the way)! :stuck_out_tongue: is it obvious i love talking about race relations? :)
