Hi,
DD’s guidancer told her her PSAT score today, a week before it is released to her online (it says the 12th). Will the highschool also receive her SAT score a week in advance?
Thanks in advance
I don’t believe so.
I think the high school receives it one full day in advance, but not a week.
I am trying to remember – I was not aware that they got my kids’ actual SAT score at all?
i’m reasonably sure we knew before the school did.
Yes, they receive them as a standard part of how the College Board runs its program. Don’t know ‘why’ they get them, but perhaps it is to ensure that the student whose mail is mis-delivered still has access to his or her scores.
“i’m reasonably sure we knew before the school did.”
Did your student use one of the backdoor programs to access scores before scores were released in your area? That would be the only way I could see a student having access (whether the school bothers to look/file/document is different) to the scores before the high school guidance counselor.
Yes. We found D’s SAT scores posted on her HS website several days before the official SAT release date. Several times. The scores were posted correctly, with all details.

Unless guidance counselor is on vacations, holiday break, just enjoying his life and is not bothered by any scores.
no, but mine was a rescheduled snowstorm kid and it apparently had some effect on what updated when.
in our case, i actually am more that reasonably sure–i am positive–i distinctly remember having a GC meeting and having to tell him the scores that he couldnt see…and he was sitting in front of me on the computer looking for them (he was unaware mine has even tested, let alone the score).
but YMMV.
thank you all for your replies
psat yes, SAT No.
It seems that in schools that have Naviance, the counselors receive a file they can upload prior to the student’s release date. In schools without a similar program, they may not be getting anything in advance or at all.

Our school has Naviance and they, definitely, have access to SAT scores before the release day. SAT scores were posted on HS website before they were posted online by College Board.
