Do saturday schools count against you in college?

Recently, I was given a saturday school for a very unfair reason (truancy, but theres a long story behind it). I know that if I were to contest it with the school board, I could get it repealed (and if the school board said no, im pretty sure i could even take them to court for it, and win.) However, because college apps are so time consuming, and i need a decent letter of rec from my counselor (who already hates me because she’s a lazy butt who wouldnt change my schedule even though she should have by school policy).

So question: Would it be worth it to get the saturday school repealed? Im afraid that I might be suspended and stuff, and even though I do plan to contest this policy, it would be better if I did it in the spring, when i will repeat the same offense.

Do saturday schools go on your application?
Im applying to UC’s, as well as many direct medical programs, and a few other privates

No they do not. Only disciplinary “violations” (such as probation, suspension, and other equivalents) are considered. I would say that it’s not worth contesting our school district, just because it’s so inefficient. Plus, all that work would be just to repeal one saturday school? YOu can probably find better ways of expending all that effort and time. Saturday schools don’t go on the transcript they send to colleges, so it wouldn’t make any difference if you got one or not (trust me, I’ve asked my counselor this before). If you really want to contest this system, you should wait until college apps are done. After all, you want your good letter of rec.

PS: I know who you are, ooooh

I don’t even think that colleges would know unless you told them. Our local schools give Saturday school if you miss more than 5 days without a doctors note. It is silly and wasteful to go to the doctor over every little thing, but we did. They gave my 5 yr old who was in kindergarten a detention. Isn’t that lovely? That was because his arrived 1 minute late on a very rainy day where my husband had to wait in a long line to get in to the parking lot to drop him off. Literally, he signed in at 8:01am when school started at 8am. He got a 1 hr detention.

Needless to say, my children do not attend the local schools any more.

thaaaank effin gawd. I got a truancy today. >_> I have Saturday school my first saturday as a senior. THANK GAWD it doesn’t go on transcripts!
