Do schools care what other schools you are applying to...??

<p>I believe that some applications ask what other schools are being applied to.
Usually, everything has a reason. Wondering if they really look and evaluate the other schools or whether it is basically a pro forma question. ALso, if that
section is left blank, whether an applicant will be prejudiced ? Best of luck to all. Marc</p>

<p>Yes, colleges and universities look at what other schools you apply to as a means of assessing your seriousness in attending their school. If they offer a lot of people admission who will end up going elsewhere, it affects their “gain” calculation and therefore can impact their position in national rankings. I don’t know if it would prejudice the decision against a student but it seems rather deceptive to leave that question unanswered.</p>
